ヘレン・ケラー（1880年～1968年）
アメリカ合衆国の教育家、社会福祉事業家。
2歳のときに高熱にかかり、一命はとりとめたものの聴力、視力、言葉を失い、話すこともできなくなる。
家庭教師として派遣されたアン・サリバンは幼少のころに弱視だった自分の経験を生かしてヘレン・ケラーにしつけ、指文字、言葉を教え、ついにヘレン・ケラーは話せるようになった。
ヘレン・ケラーは日本を含め、世界各地を歴訪し、身体障害者の教育・福祉に尽くした。
